The Legend Behind D.C. Cobb's
Sometime around 1990, a Woodstock rock band called The Rumor was making the rounds playing in local clubs and events. The group was made up of members, Glenn Crandall, Hans Mast, Vic Champney and Dave Kreswell. At the time, Glenn owned a bar called Rumors in Hebron, Illinois, and was in the process of purchasing a bar in downtown Woodstock (former bar name unknown). The band mates were offering Glenn suggestions on what to name his new bar.
As the story goes, the band was performing at a local outdoor event, and Dave Kreswell - the drummer in the band – was "late" in returning from a break. After searching for Dave to begin the next set, he was found wandering to the stage "sucking on a corn cobb". After a hard laugh, Hans named Dave "DC COBB" and the name stuck with him until he passed years later. Of course, once Glen purchased the local bar, he couldn't resist naming it DC COBBS!! Of note, Hans did not learn until long after that Dave spelled his last name with a "K" – but that wouldn't have changed a thing!
